A regular cleaner in Harrow costs £23 an hour for each cleaner on a weekly visit, or £24 an hour if you’d like fortnightly. Three hours every week is £69. We try hard to keep the same person on your house each time. Nothing is added for the journey.
The two hourly rates
| Frequency | Rate for each cleaner, per hour |
|---|---|
| Weekly | £23 |
| Fortnightly | £24 |
Fortnightly is dearer because the house is dirtier by the time we arrive. Give Harrow’s water two weeks on a shower screen and it takes about twice as long to shift as one week’s worth. The £67 minimum that applies to one-off jobs doesn’t apply here. Parking, where a street needs it, is charged at the actual cost.
Keeping it apart from a deep clean
| Job | Charged at |
|---|---|
| Weekly housework | £23 an hour per cleaner |
| Fortnightly housework | £24 an hour per cleaner |
| Ironing, on top of cleaning time | £12 an hour |
| One-off deep clean | £26 an hour per cleaner, at least two cleaners for three hours, plus £30 kit: from £186 |
| End of tenancy clean | Set by size, £156 for a studio up to £425 for four bedrooms |
These are two separate services and they’re invoiced separately. Weekly visits hold a house steady. A deep clean is for when it has slipped a long way, and it’s done by a pair at a different rate.
Three hours in a 1930s semi
A typical three hours goes like this. The kitchen gets the hob, splashback, unit fronts, sink and descaled taps, with the floor done last. Bathrooms get descaler on the screen and taps early so it has time to work. Beds are changed if the fresh linen is left out, carpets hoovered, hard floors mopped, and the living room and bedrooms dusted.
Skirtings, inside windows, the oven and the tops of wardrobes go on a rota, so each comes up every few weeks. The house stays level. If you want the lot at once, that’s the deep clean.
One cleaner, kept on
Customers like seeing the same face, and it suits us too: by the fifteenth visit your cleaner knows where the cloths are and which tap drips. When they’re on holiday or ill we’ll either offer a cover cleaner or move the day, and you’ll hear which before it happens.
Changes need a little notice. A text the evening before is plenty.
Busy family kitchens
A lot of Harrow homes have grandparents, parents and children all under one roof, and the kitchen works hard. Fresh cooking with oil every day leaves a film on the hob surround and the hood that comes back within a week. On a weekly visit we keep on top of it with a degreaser; left for a month it turns sticky and slow. Ironing can be added to any visit at £12 an hour, which some of our larger households take up for school uniforms.
Loft conversions change the sums
A large share of the semis round here have had the loft done, and plenty have a side return built on behind the kitchen. On paper it’s a three bed. In practice it may be four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a second steep staircase, and three hours won’t cover that. Count the rooms you actually use when you ring and we’ll set the hours to match; four hours a week is £92.
Keys
Most regular customers are out at work while we clean, so they leave us a key or put in a key safe. We log every key, and nothing on the fob gives away the address.
We have regulars in Pinner and the outer roads of North Harrow as well as the town.
Carpets and ovens
Carpets and ovens need machines a regular cleaner doesn’t carry, so they’re booked on their own. Carpet cleaning is from £36 a room and an oven from £77, and either can be timed for a morning your cleaner is already in. There’s more about the firm on the about page, and the other services are listed on the front page.
Questions we get asked
What does a weekly cleaner cost in Harrow?
£23 an hour for each cleaner, so three hours comes to £69 and four to £92. Fortnightly is £24 an hour, because two weeks of dust and scale take longer to clear.
What’s the shortest visit you’ll book?
Most weekly houses are three hours. Below three hours the travel takes too big a bite out of the visit, so three is the least we book.
Can I skip a week or change the day?
Yes, free of charge. Text us the night before.
Do I have to be in?
No. Most people give us a key or fit a key safe. When you stop we hand them back or post them recorded.
Do you bring cleaning products and a vacuum?
Yes, they’re covered by the hourly rate. If you’d like us to use your own hoover, perhaps on a wool carpet, that’s fine and the price stays the same.
